Music Makers: At the Keyboard I (Minimum age: 6 1/2)

Extending our pathway to music literacy and skills to an instrument, the Musikgarten Music Makers: At the Keyboard piano program teaches the children to play the songs they've been hearing, singing, moving to, and enjoying in earlier years! Progressing on from Music Makers: Around the World, this sixty minute class follows a very sequential approach to building piano skills, developing the abilities to improvise and compose, and understanding musical notation. Parents are required to participate in final fifteen minutes of class, and are encouraged to attend the entire class as much as possible. This is an amazing program, but success requires the support of an adult committed to working with the child during the first year.

Music Makers: At the Keyboard 2 (Graduate of Keyboard I)
27 week session
Keyboard Year Two:
(Prerequisite: Music Makers at the Keyboard, Year One)
Musikgarten children come to the piano ready to play the songs they have learned to sing, dance, and love. Small group lessons at the keyboard capitalize on your child’s delight in making music with others and allow the children to have success quickly playing songs that they know. In this second year of the program, your child will continue to learn to play by ear, with an increasing emphasis placed upon music reading skills. A much-loved piano repertoire of familiar songs along with new, unfamiliar reading pieces improves his ability to read, memorize, and play with fluency – resulting in pride and excitement in making music! Materials: To continue the fun at home, you will again receive 2 listening CDs and 2 practice CDs over the year, with special tracks for practice each week. Notation games, repertoire pieces, sight-reading pieces, study of composers and styles of music, opportunities for composing and improvising, and more comprise your child’s comprehensive learning materials that will help him stay excited about playing and encourage him to make music long after the lessons stop. You’ll both love Music Makers: At the Keyboard, Year 2!
