She also worked with children at her church, directing the Joyful Singers Choir (grades 1-3, then 4-6) for 29 years. Cheryle has sung in college and church choirs, as well as the Billings Symphony Chorale. Her love for children and music led her to become a certified Musikgarten teacher. She is inspired by the experience of teaching children music through a joyful, discovery process.
Jenny Toews (pronounced Taves), who has lived in Billings all her life, considers herself a life-long student of music. After high school, Jenny traveled the world as a soloist in 'Up With People' and 'The Continental Singers'. Extensive participation in choirs, vocal competitions and musical theater shaped her into an excellent and engaging role model for students. She has studied piano and voice, leading to study in college as a vocal major. Jenny believes every child is precious, with so much to offer the world, and as such she enjoys sharing her gifts and love of music with all her students and their families. She is committed to nourishing each one's musical abilities while enriching his/her life through Musikgarten.
Lindsey is a Yellowstone Valley native who has been performing and teaching in the Billings area since 2010. After studying piano and violin as a child, she graduated from Heartland Baptist Bible College with a bachelor's degree in church music in 2010. In addition to teaching private violin, viola, and piano lessons since 2004, she has also performed and conducted workshops across the U.S., Canada, and Russia, supporting churches and especially young church musicians. After the birth of her son, she began to explore the field of early childhood development and has earned certification in toddler, preschool, and early group piano education through Musikgarten. She joined Karen's team as a piano/toddler music instructor in the fall of 2018.
Katie moved to Billings when she was nine-years-old. She attended college in Missoula and Billings, graduating with a History Education degree with a Political Science minor and a Broadfield Social Studies Endorsement in Sociology. Katie's hobbies are history, music, reading/writing, and travel: so far, she’s been to 10 countries and stood on four continents… and hopes to see that number rise! Katie loved teaching High School History for five years, but chose to resign from classroom teaching to have more time for her daughter (whom she and her husband adopted in 2018). Katie has participated in audition choirs, community concerts, musicals, and has sung at her church for 18 years. Her training and experience as an educator as well as her passion for music and kids, led her to Musikgarten. She believes every child possesses the ability to learn and grow and loves to be a part of that journey in her students’ lives.
